Compassion Ministries

“You are the salt of the earth…” – Matthew 5:13

GNBC serves our neighbors, showing the love of God in practical ways. You can be part of these teams…

City Supper – Tuesdays, 4-5pm
City Supper Logo
Every Tuesday a team serves a hot meal to our neighbors in Attleboro. Usually our guests go home with a bag of bread or groceries.

You can help by signing up for the team that buys and prepares a meal, bringing it to the Chapel on a Sunday morning. It will be refrigerated/frozen that morning, and then taken out for reheating and serving by the second team of volunteers on Tuesday afternoon.  A CORI background check is required for serving volunteers.

Second Chance Clothes – Last Saturday of each month, 8-10amSecond Chance Clothes 2
Second Chance Clothes LogoDozens of neighbors from the Attleboro area come to Good News on the last Saturday of the month for free, gently used clothes. Your donation of clean clothes in good condition helps those individuals and families, seniors, homeless, single moms — stretch their budget each month.

You can volunteer by donating clothes, or by being part of the team that sets up tables and prepares the clothes, or the team that servies the guests. A CORI background check is required for serving volunteers.

Attleboro Area Emergency Shelter – Open as need when severe weather is forecast
Join the team of volunteers that staff the emergency shelter for the homeless in the Attleboro area.

The shelter is at Faith Alliance Church, Pleasant Street, Attleboro. It opens whenever the temperature is forecast to drop below 15*F, or 6+” inches of snow — or other weather emergency — are forecast. The shelter opens at 5pm; the doors close at 7pm. Guests leave by 7am in the morning. Volunteers serve in teams of three on one of three shifts (5-10pm, 10pm-2am, or 2-7am). A CORI background check is required for serving volunteers.
