This summer (2010) we’re taking up the challenge of learning the “Top -10″ basic Bible verses that every Christ-follower should know. Week-by-week we are memorizing a new verse. Here’s the entire list…
Week 1 – What is the gospel?
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16
Week 2 – What were we? Sinners who need a Savior.
“…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…” – Romans 3:23
Week 3 – What are we now? New creations in Christ.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17
Week 4 – How are we saved? By grace alone.
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.” – Ephesians 2:8,9
Week 5 – How should we then live? As a living sacrifice.
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.” – Romans 12:1
Week 6 – How should we then live? With God’s guidance.
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” – Proverbs 3:5,6
Week 7 – How should we live? Hiding God’s word in my heart.
“I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” – Psalm 119:11
Week 8 – How should we then live? Prayerfully.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” – Philippians 4:6
Week 9 – How should we then live? Knowing Scripture accurately.
“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” -2 Timothy 2:15
Week 10 – How should we then live? Loving God and loving others.
“What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?” He answered: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” – Luke 10:26, 27
